KİPTAŞ was founded in 1987 under the name IMAR WEIDLEPLAN to create zoning plans and architectural projects in partnership with foreign capital.

KİPTAŞ, a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, completed its establishment on March 8, 1995, and was restructured under the name Istanbul Konut Imar Plan Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S.

As a public enterprise, KİPTAŞ has built over 80,000 housing units across various regions of Istanbul as part of its projects. While its primary area of expertise is housing production, its activities also include urban transformation, real estate development, and consultancy services.

For the first time in its history, KİPTAŞ's new management has organized public auctions, allowing the company’s real estate assets to be sold through open bidding accessible online. As a result, the properties have achieved sale prices above their estimated values. The revenues generated from these auctions are allocated to fund urban transformation and social housing projects.
